How It Works

1

Launch and forget

Logic Commander lives in your menu bar. Enable voice control and it listens quietly in the background.

2

Say the wake word

Say "Hey Logic" to activate, then follow it with a command. Or disable the wake word from the popover and speak commands directly.

3

Logic Pro responds instantly

"Hey Logic record" "Hey Logic stop" "Hey Logic undo" - all without touching your keyboard.

Built for Musicians

Wake Word Activation

Say "Hey Logic" before each command to stay in control. Recording direct with no vocals? Disable the wake word from the popover and speak commands directly.

Echo Suppression

Smart enough to ignore your voice commands when they play back through monitors during recording.

Works With Audio Interfaces

Use your recording mic - Scarlett, Apollo, or any interface. Logic Commander listens on the same input you're recording from, no separate mic needed.

Idle Auto-Disable

Set a timeout and Logic Commander will notify you or automatically stop listening after a period of inactivity - so you're not burning CPU when you step away.

Custom Commands

Map any phrase to any Logic Pro keyboard shortcut. Click a key combo to capture it, add trigger phrases, and speak to fire it - no coding required.

Editable Triggers

Prefer to say "halt" instead of "stop recording"? Override any built-in command's trigger phrases to match how you naturally speak.

25+ Built-in Commands

Transport, recording, editing, looping, metronome - all the controls you need while tracking, plus unlimited custom commands.

Live Mic Activity

The status indicator pulses and glows in real time as it picks up your voice - so you always know it's hearing you before you finish the command.

No App Switching Required

Logic Pro automatically comes to the foreground when a command fires. Speak from anywhere - Logic Commander handles the rest.

Reduces Physical Strain

Keep your hands on your instrument - or rest them entirely. Logic Commander is a natural fit for musicians managing RSI, repetitive strain, or any condition that makes keyboard use difficult.

Bar Navigation

Jump the playhead to any bar by voice. Say "Hey Logic, go to bar 32" or "play from bar 9" - even spoken numbers like "bar twenty five" work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work with my audio interface?
Yes. Logic Commander is built for audio interfaces. Select your interface in Settings and it listens on Input 1 - the same mic you're recording with. Tested with Focusrite Scarlett, but works with any CoreAudio-compatible interface. No second microphone needed.
Will it trigger during playback of recorded vocals?
Logic Commander has built-in echo suppression. If it detects the same command within a few seconds of the last one, it ignores it. This prevents your recorded voice from re-triggering commands during playback.
Does it send my audio to the cloud?
No. All speech recognition is performed entirely on your Mac using Apple's built-in Speech framework. No audio data ever leaves your computer. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no telemetry of any kind.
Can I customize the wake word?
Yes. The default wake word is "Hey Logic," but you can change it to anything you like in Settings. You can also disable the wake word entirely if you prefer direct command recognition.
What version of macOS do I need?
Logic Commander requires macOS 12 (Monterey) or later. It also requires Logic Pro and microphone access.
What if it doesn't recognize my voice well?
Speech recognition accuracy depends on Apple's Speech framework. A quieter environment or a closer microphone will improve results. Logic Commander also supports fallback wake word detection - if "Hey Logic" is missed, it will still respond to just "Logic."
Can I add my own custom commands?
Yes - added in version 1.1. Go to Settings → Commands → Custom and click "Add Command." Give it a name, type one or more trigger phrases, then click the key capture button and press the keyboard shortcut you want to send to Logic Pro. You can also edit the trigger phrases for any built-in command from the Built-in panel.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Logic Commander includes a 7-day free trial with full functionality - no account or credit card required. When the trial ends, you'll be prompted to enter a license key. Purchase one from Gumroad and paste it into the app to unlock it permanently.
Can I jump to a specific bar by voice?
Yes - added in version 1.3. Say "Hey Logic, go to bar 32" to move the playhead, or "Hey Logic, play from bar 9" to jump and immediately start playback. Spoken numbers work too - "bar twenty five" is the same as "bar 25."
Is this a subscription?
No. Logic Commander is a one-time purchase of $29. Pay once, use it forever. All future updates are included.
